It’s time to unveil the 8th version of Zoho Projects, and it brings major changes!
This year, we focused on reducing the learning curve and improving the tool’s usability so that new users can get started quickly and existing users can enjoy a much more intuitive and powerful user interface.
To make that happen, we’re introducing the Workbook View — an editable sheet that consolidates all your project information. With easy editing and navigation, contextual UI enhancements, and an equally powerful mobile app, there’s a lot to love!
You can now create entire projects using just your keyboard!
All list-based views such as Projects, Milestones, Tasks, and Issues — along with their detailed pages — can be navigated with keyboard controls.
You can move across rows and columns using arrow keys and quickly add or edit project info without opening each detailed page. You can also better organize your projects by moving sub-tasks across tasks, and tasks across task lists and milestones.
As mentioned, this version is all about convenience and flexibility.
You can now access your Gantt charts directly from the Workbook View instead of going to the Reports section — and even bulk update work items from the Gantt.
Whether you're managing short-term mini-projects or multi-year programs, Zoho Projects has you covered: view your Gantt in days, weeks, months, or years, depending on your project timeline.
Custom Fields – Create custom fields right from the Workbook View to meet the unique needs of your project or workflow. Add these fields using the customization icon at the top right corner of the screen.
Project Templates – You also get access to over 20 industry-specific project templates to help you plan and execute faster. Whether you’re in construction or marketing, we’ve got a template (or two) ready for you!
Just like custom fields, automation is now integrated into the Workbook View — no need to dig into the settings menu. Create workflow rules for projects, tasks, or issues directly from the sheet, and empower your teams to do their best work yet.
Kanban – Inline editing is now available in Kanban boards too! You can make changes to project data, bulk update work items, or even add comments and attachments — all directly from the board.
Context Menus – Right-click on any module — whether in the Workbook, Gantt, or Kanban — to access relevant actions like the color wheel for a task in the Gantt chart or cloning tasks on the Kanban board.
With the Workbook View now available on smartphones and tablets, you can enjoy a consistent experience across all devices.
We’ve also enhanced Timesheet views, enabled Dashboards and Project Teams on mobile, and added the Calendar module for Android.
And there’s more!
We’ve added several other improvements aligned with our focus on familiarity and convenience, like a project detail page on both web and mobile, similar to the existing detail views for tasks and issues.
